Pallavi Chandran is dreaming big

DC | Gayathri Krishna | 25th Sep 2013

Pallavi Chandran is on a roll. She struck gold with the Hindi serial Madhubala and now Pallavi is all set to step  into Mollywood with a lead role opposite none other than Mammootty himself!  Active in television serials since 2006, Pallavi got her big break when V.K. Prakash cast her in his forthcoming Mammootty starrer. Though she has a prominent role in Subhash Ghai’s forthcoming Hindi film Kaanchi, Pallavi says that her Mollywood debut is exciting any day!

Pallavi’s dad hails from Palakkad, and the pretty lady has spent some of the best days of her life here. “As a child, we used to visit Palakkad every year. But everyone is busy these days so we hardly get time to get together,” says Pallavi.

Brought up in Karnataka, Pallavi completed her Business Management and Hotel Management and began working with Oberoi Hotel in Bengaluru.

“While working at the Oberoi, I realised that a 10 to 5 job was not for me. I decided to give up  the job and become an actress. When I told my parents about it, they were not happy with the idea. But gave in finally,” recalls Pallavi.

The actress says that her journey in  tinsel town has not been a bed of roses. “I lived in Mumbai  for a while with hopes of getting into the film industry. My dad was kind enough to support me while I chased my dream. Now I feel happy, content and blessed,” comments Pallavi.

About her role in the Mammooty film, Pallavi says, “I play Mammootty’s wife in the film. I still cannot believe I am paired opposite the legend. On the first day, when Mammootty came on the sets, I was nervous even to meet him. But at the end of the day’s shoot, he came across and appreciated my work. I couldn’t have asked for more,” smiles a delighted Pallavi.

The actress who wants to be seen in Mollywood more often says that she is going to be choosy about the roles  she picks. “I would love to do women-centric films, or films with a musical background. I am a huge fan of Manichithrathazhu, and used to tell my dad that I want to see a Manichithrathazhu part 2 and also act in it. Recently, I came to know that it is already being filmed. Now, I hope to be part of  Manichithrathazhu Part 3!” laughs  Pallavi Chandran before she walks off.
