Nellore: Nellore has witnessed a rare demonstration against the proposed bifurcation of the state on Saturday.
Nellore legislator M. Sreedharkrishna Reddy and rural legislator Anam Vivekananda Reddy have organised a huge rally ‘Sahasra Vahana Garjana’ with hundreds of motor vehicles of different types in the arterial rods of Nellore.
Nearly 300 tractors, 300 auto rickshaws, 100 bikes and about 50 buses besides some vans and trucks took part in the rally which sent the traffic movement haywire till afternoon.
The special attraction was demonstration with earth moving machines at Gandhi Statue Centre. The machines performed snack dance much to the amusement of onlookers.
Students of Vikrama Simhapuri University also participated in the rally among others.
Meanwhile, representatives of various private schools participated in the relay hunger strike being organised under the auspices of private educational institutes JAC at V.R. College centre.
Irrigation employees staged a reverse walk demonstration in Nellore.
Students of Saint Mary’s School Vivekananda School and Prospero School took part in a rally at Gudur. The students formed human chain at Tower Clock centre.
