Women oppose state bifurcation

Nellore: Thousands of women participated in Mahila Garjana rally held at Venkatagiri on Friday. Hundreds of women from nearby mandals came all the way to Venkatagiri and took part in the event.

The women have taken out a procession from MDO’s office to Kasipeta junction and raised slogans against division of state. Mahila Power Association president Dhaniyala Radha, Dr Sarada, Hemalatha and members of Mahila Mandali spoke.

Elsewhere, correspondents of various private schools participated in the relay hunger strike held in support of unified state at V.R. College centre in Nellore on Friday. Private educational institutes JAC functionary Chatla Narasimha Rao and others were present in the hunger strike.

Teachers of Gurukul schools, government schools, private schools and staff of marketing department also staged demonstrations.

RTC workers took out a procession in a hired bus of RTC in the arterial roads of the city.
Telugu Desam leaders led by former minister T. Ramesh Reddy and TD district president Beeda Ravichandra organised a bike rally in the town.

Banks and central government offices remained closed in the district for the second day on Friday at the instance of Employees JAC activists.
