Man arrested for raping daughter
Bengaluru: The Peenya police claims to have arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter for the last four months.
The police have identified the accused as Pintu Singh, a resident of Hesaraghatta Cross on Tumkur Road and a native of Bihar.
Singh, a labour contractor, was supplying labourers to construction sites and other places. He has been staying in the city for the last eight years.
Singh, who has two wives, had left his first wife in Bihar and was staying with his second one in the city.
Four months ago, he had gone to meet his first wife and returned with his daughter ostensibly to provide her college education.
Instead of sending her to college, he made her stay at home and allegedly started raping her. The accused is said to have had two apartments, both near the Tumkur Main Road. He used to take his daughter to one of the vacant apartments to rape her.
The victim with the help of her neighbours informed the matter to the police control room, who alerted the jurisdictional Peenya police to look into the matter.
After questioning and recording the statements of the victim, her father was arrested. While the statement was being recorded, her father was away in Bihar and was arrested on Tuesday on his return.
Both the accused and the victim have been subjected to medical tests at a nearby hospital, the police added.
DCP (North) Sandeep Patil told media persons that the victim has claimed that she had been raped three times in the last four months by her father. After the incident came to light, Peenya police was directed to investigate.
The Peenya police have registered a case of rape and have sent the victim to a rehabilitation centre in Madivala. Further investigations are on.
