Breaking free from clichés

DC | Gayathri Krishna | 29th Aug 2013

Actress Shruthi Ramakrishnan is all set to return to Mollywood. Malayalam cinema lovers are acquainted with Shruthi as her last two flicks Best Actor and Doubles were with none other than superstar Mammootty. This pretty girl has been roped in by Arun Kumar Aravind for his upcoming directorial venture 1 By Two. Shruthi is thrilled that she can work with yet another team of prominent names.

The actress, who is busy in many south Indian languages, will play a Tamil girl in '1 By Two' who falls in love with the character played by Murali Gopi. “The role I play is that of a simple and innocent, yet strong girl,” she adds. “Mollywood has always been great for me. This industry is a haven for artistes,” she says.
Though Shuthi stayed away from M’town for a while, she said that she did that only to return for better roles. “I never got any commendable characters or good scripts after Best Actor and Doubles. Since I do not want to let down audience who love me, I have being choosy about my roles,” explains the actress. “Malayalam cinema gives prominence to wonderful scripts and talented artistes. There is no compromise on that,” she says.  The actress is all praise for Mollywood. “I have learnt a lot from Malayalam cinema industry. The technicians and creative people here are the best. Their dedication and love to their work inspires me,” comments Shruthi.

People from other industries look up to Malayalam cinema. “When I tell people that I worked in Mollywood, they are thrilled. They enquire about the industry and my experiences working here. Mollywood has quite a number of fans,” smiles Shruthi, who hails from Karnataka.

This huge Prithviraj fan hopes to work with her favourite star someday! “I have heard that M’town is churning some brilliant movies now. I would love to be part of them. Heroines must break away from clichés and try something out of the box. That is what I would love to do as an actor,” says a smiling Shruthi Ramakrishnan.
