Rajahmundry: The ongoing stir for Samaikyandhra goes unabated with the protagonists carrying out a series of novel protests to drive home the message that they no longer accept the proposed bifurcation of the state and vowed to continue their stir until the state remains united, in Godavari districts on Monday.

In Rajahmundry, the agitators took out rallies, staged dharnas and organised vanta varpu. Hoteliers carried out a huge rally amidst the drum beats and burnt the effigy of TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Later, they organised mass preparation of food on the road and served it  among themselves.

Congress supporters played cricket at Y-Junction. Employees from roads and buildings department formed a human chain near the Government Arts College grounds while advocates and traders too carried out their protests.

Animal husbandry employees attired in the garb of Potti Sriramulu organised a relay hunger strike while they were joined by the dairy farmers. Civic employees carried out their protests and started post card campaign.

Meanwhile, joint action committees of various fora joined together under the aegis of Samaikya Rashtra Parirakshana and announced their plan of action to intensify the movement here.

Speaking on the occasion, advocates JAC convenor Muppala Subba Rao, NGO union president G. Haribabu and civic employees JAC convenor Ch. Srinivasa Rao stated that they would organise a huge rally on Tuesday and gave a call for bandh in the city as part of Sakala Janula Samme’ from August 28 to 29.

They said that to mark the completion of 30 days of the ongoing stir , they were going to organise a public meeting at pushkar ghat on August 30.

They also announced to lay siege to the national highways and stall the administration to intensify their stir. They called  upon the ministers and legislators to give up their posts and create constitutional stalemate in the state.

MLAs, MPs asked to quit for cause

Rajahmundry: At Bhimavaram, students sporting the trademark garb of Telugu Thalli, Chatrapati Sivaji, Potti Sriramulu and Mahatma Gandhi staged demonstration and formed a human chain at Prakasam Chowk.

APNGOs took our a bike rally. Body builders gave a demonstration on the road.

At Akiveedu, Undi MLA Vetukuri Sivarama Raju called upon the public representatives to give up their posts and join the stir and felt the need to continue the stir until the demand for united state is realised. NGOs from panchayat raj, medical and health and other departments and students took out a rally.
