Nellore: Despite his deteriorating health condition and doctors advice against fasting anymore, Venkatagiri Telugu Desam legislator Kurugondla Ramakrishna has been continuing his indefinite fast at Venkatagiri.

After examining the MLA, a team of medical officers suggested him to call off his stir while pointing to drop in his blood pressure and sugar levels. However, the legislator refused to give up while stressing that he will relent only after the proposal on state division is dropped.

Speaking to media persons after doctors carried out a series of tests on Thursday the legislator said that he is ready to sacrifice his life for the unity of the state.

As per the reports reaching at 9.45 pm, around 100 policemen led by Gudur DSP Chowdeswari, whisked away the fasting MLA to hospital as the doctors announced the deteriorating condition of the Venkatagiri MLA and foiled his fast-unto-death programme.

Earlier, TD leader and Uravakonda legislator Payyavula Keshav and Sullurpeta legislator Parasa Ratnam visited the venue of the indefinite fast and extended their solidarity with Ramakrishna.

Speaking on the occasion, Keshav has lambasted AICC chief Sonia Gandhi for bifurcation of the state and alleged that the move was meant to benefit her family. He said that skilled youth from Seemandhra are unlikely to get jobs in Hyderabad once the state is divided.

He criticised the people’s representatives of Seemandhra for holding their positions even when the tenure is coming to an end in six months. He said that society would ostracise the leaders if they fail to extend support to Samaikyandhra and join the agitation.
