Narendra Modi plans another rally in coastal AP

DC | 12th Aug 2013

Hyderabad: It was a hectic Sunday in Hyderabad for Gujarat Chief Minister and chairman of BJP’s election campaign committee Narendra Modi. Before his public meeting at Lal Bahadur Stadium here,  Modi interacted with film personalities, doctors, educationists, industrialists and the media for four hours at Hotel Park Hyatt, Banjara Hills. The hotel was teeming with security personnel who kept the hundreds of onlookers at bay.

“Around 60 to 70 people were invited for the meeting with Narendra Modi of whom 10 to 12 were film personalities. Venkaiah Naidu introduced everyone to Modi individually. He hailed Modi as a 3D CM — Decisive, Dedicated and Developing Chief Minister — and gave clear indications that he would be NDA’s prime ministerial candidate,” said a source at the meeting.

Tollywood personalities who met the Gujarat CM were Balakrishna, Rana Daggubati, Allu Aravind, Suresh Babu, Mohan Babu, K. Raghavendra Rao, Murali Mohan, C. Kalyan, Jagapathi Babu, Vishnu, Manoj, Lakshmi Manchu, ‘Dil’ Raju, A.V.S, Suman, Ashok Kumar, and Gauthami.

Sources said that industrialists, film personalities, educationists and doctors who met Modi were thoroughly impressed with the leader and went overboard praising him, his model of leadership and said that they wanted him as the next Prime Minister.

Modi also held closed door one-on-one meetings with selected industrialists. He also criticised the state’s ‘paralysing’ policies and said that AP has been stranded due to these crippling policies.

After Sunday’s Nava Bharat Yuva Bheri in Hyderabad in Telangana region, the BJP is planning to organise a farmers’ bheri in Coastal Andhra soon which will also be addressed by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. BJP sources told DC that the party had plans to address farmers’ issues through massive public meetings in Rayalaseema too.

These meetings will be part of the 100 rallies to be addressed by the Gujarat CM and National BJP Campaign Committee chairman across the state and the country, the first of which took place in Hyderabad on Sunday.

BJP national executive member Dr K. Laxman  said, “The Congress is scared of Modi. This is the reason the party has been targeting him in every manner but without success. Modi has become a man of the masses. His presence electrifies the environment and has become a rallying point for the youth, who want to see him as PM.”

Thousands of youth who came for the Nava Bharat Yuva Bheri chanted “We want Modi as PM.” Though the meet was  Andhra Pradesh centric, youths from all almost every state of the country were present for the meeting at LB Stadium.  We want to see Modi as the next prime minister. He is an honest man and we are sure he will cleanse the corrupt country,” said Ajay Mishra from Patna.

Rahul, a techie from Pune who came to the meeting with 100 youths, asserted that Modi was the ideal choice for PM. “I am a big fan of Modi. I want to see him as PM,” he said.

Other than the general public, state leaders like Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy who recently joined the BJP, also said that they wanted Modi as prime minister. “The nation’s youth are looking towards Modi. Only he can provide strong leadership to the country. Youth from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Porbandar to howrah are supporting him,” Dr Janardhan Reddy said.

From Vande Matram to Maa Tujhe Salaam, nationalist songs, folk songs, music and dance kept the audience entertained before Modi arrived at the packed LB Stadium.

Child musician Pranav enthralled the audience with his patriotic music and folk singers sang praises of Mr Modi and raised “Bolo Bharat Mata ki jai” slogans. Earlier Modi was accorded a warm welcome at Begumpet airport by BJP leaders when he arrived by special aircraft from Gujarat on Sunday morning. State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, National BJP vice president Bandaru Dattatreya, former Union minister Ch. Vidyasagar, Dr K. Laxman, Laxminarayana, MLA Krishnam Raju and others received him.

When a reporter asked him whether he could spare two minutes to answer a question, Modi said, “Din bhar baat karne wala hoon (I will speak throughout the day.)”

Belying all speculations and doubts, the Hyderabad meeting of Modi was a great success. As massive crowd gathered at the venue, several lakhs of people were glued before their TV sets to listen to Modi. No other leader of any political party now match him on popularity front. He is now the undisputed National leader. His proposed meetings at Coastal Andhra, Rayalseema will further ensure BJP to win some seats both in Telangana and Seemandhra areas.
