Make-up artiste Shobha has changed the looks of many a star to make them suitable for their roles. Her latest challenge is to transform actress Aamani to look like YSRC honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi for director P.C. Reddy’s upcoming film Jagannayakaudu.
Shobha, who is busy gathering pictures and material to perfect Vijayalakshmi’s likeness on screen as far as possible, says, “It’s one of the toughest jobs as people get detached from on screen characters the moment they detect even the smallest dissimilarity.”
“We need to get everything right, from the looks, gait and body language to facial and skin tone. Since this is Aamani’s first portrayal of a real-life character, she is showing a lot of interest in perfecting the look. We will be testing various options for 10 days. Also, Aamani has a slimmer face than Vijayalakshmi’s,” she adds.
The buzz is that Shobha is also creating the look for debutant Anuradha Sai Rao, granddaughter of yesteryears actress Anjali Devi, who plays the role of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s love interest during his college days, as well that of Spandana who plays Bharati.
“I haven’t been approached for these characters, but I know that one is fictional and the other is based on a real-life person, so let’s see,” Shobha clarifies. Shobha, who is India’s first female professional make-up artiste in the film industry, has won many awards for her work. In the past, she has successfully brought to life icons such as Dr B.R. Ambedkar, freedom fighter Potti Sriramulu and film legend Raghuphati Venkhaiah Naidu.
