Anantapur: Samaikyandhra JAC convener and primary education minister Sake Sailajanath said a public meeting would be held in the second week of July at Anantapur demanding that the state should be kept united. The public meeting would be organised by the Anantapur District Congress Committee, the minister said.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Sailajanath observed that Telugu Desam leaders did not have the guts to speak on the demand of Samaikyandhra. The party leaders have opted for escapism instead of joining the movement.
Sailajanath said only Congress leaders were strongly demanding a united state and opposing all type of proposals for dividing the state. Referring to the lack of clarity on the stand of opposition parties, Sailajanath said, “Telugu Desam and Congress have not made any positive statement for a united state, so far.”
He called on the YSR Congress and Telugu Desam to join the movement for a united AP. The JAC meeting would be held on a large scale to reflect the demand of samaikyandhra and to send signals to the Centre, he said.
The samykyandhra joint action committee was also planning to hold a large number of meetings in various districts to exert pressure against dividing the state.
