No teething trouble!

DC | Priya Sreekumar | 29th May 2013

For Dubai-based orthodontist-turned-actor Prashant Nair, life could not have been better. While many newcomers find it difficult to get a toehold in tinsel town, this doctor has had the enviable luck of having acted with superstars Vijay in Thupakki as well as Ajith in the upcoming Valai.

His current assignment is Blessy’s 'Kalimannu'. While keeping his character under wraps, Prashant is all praise for director Blessy and co-star Shweta Menon.

He says, “Blessy is a perfectionist who notices even the minutest details! He is a director who has the scenes chalked out in a certain way and he wants it to be executed in that same way. Blessy even acts out the scene and as an actor, one just needs to imitate the moves to the exact number of steps!” Shweta, he says, is an absolute pleasure  to work with, as is with Biju Menon too.

Prashant is equally upbeat about his role in 'Vallai', which he informs is a small role. But the experience that Prashant is gaining is by no means small and he says, “The film is a suspense thriller and working in it is great fun as everyone is supportive of each other.”

So how does the busy doctor manage to juggle his busy schedule and accommodate films too? Prashant smiles, “Some of the sequences were shot in Dubai, so it did not upset my practice.” In fact, Prashant says, his actor label has brought  in more clients. He quips, “The novelty of an actor-cum-orthodontist has added to my practice with many clients referring others to me!”

Prashant enjoys the Kollywood style of filmmaking, where he feels energy levels are high and the characters are larger than life!
