Alphonse Putharen’s 'Neram' has set the ball rolling for a few young actors. It definitely did for Willson Joseph. He played Nivin Pauly’s best friend John in 'Neram'. Willson is on cloud nine with the appreciation that is coming his way.
The film industry is not new to Willson, who plays Royichan in the serial 'Chumma Just for Fun' and now his heart is set on acting. “I took part in the auditions for Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Malarvadi Arts Club, and was selected for a small role. But I was more excited about working with a young team,” recalls Willson.
The nursing graduate tried his luck in short films where he got noticed. Willson is all smiles when he talks about the acting workshops that used to be held by his group of friends. “Alphonse is a close friend who is passionate about movies. He used to give me tips on acting, and Neram happened at the right time for me,” he explains. Willson recollects that he first expressed his acting aspirations to Alphonse. “He asked me to go for it,” chuckles Willson.
The actor is looking for greener pastures in M’town where he wants to showcase his skills. “I want to play different characters. I am an optimist, so I believe the best will come to me,” he says. Though serials are not his cup of tea, Willson has a reason to be associated with Chumma... “The concept was novel, and the team is creative. I have learnt a lot from being part of Chumma... series. But the audience won’t see me more often in serials,” he says candidly.
Willson was also an assistant director for Neram. “I want to try my luck in direction too. I wasn’t born with acting skills. I need to mould them. With a passion for cinema, I believe I can soar to great heights,” smiles Wilson.
