Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor-starrer Raanjhanaa will also have a Tamil version of the film hitting the big screens and will be titled Ambikapathy. Incidentally, a film with the same title was released more than half a century ago and had legendary Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan playing the lead character.
“However, there is no similarity between the two films, except that they are both love stories,” says our source, adding, “The story and plot of the new Raanjhanaa is completely different.” A.R. Rahman will be the music director for both versions of the film.
The decision to release a Tamil version of the film has been on the cards for six to seven months now, given Dhanush’s immense popularity and fan following in the Southern part of the country. But only recently, producer Krishika Lulla assured us that the Tamil version was very much on.
This is the first time Sonam will see her film being released in a Southern regional language and needless to say, she can’t wait to get a glimpse.
