Kozhikode: There was a deliberate attempt by the CPM to eliminate Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T.P. Chandrasekharan and the police intelligence wing had submitted six reports, five during the LDF government’s tenure when Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was the home minister and another one,  to the present UDF government, on the imminent murder of TP, said former rural DySP special branch, P. Sunil Babu (now SP, Kerala Armed Police), before the additional district and sessions court, Eranhipalam, during the cross examination of witnesses on Friday.

One of the reports said the CPM district committee had green-signalled the murder. An intelligence report on March 23, 2010 warned the government of the possibility of CPM cadres from Panoor entering Onchiyam to murder Chandrasekharan. The last of the reports was submitted on March 17, 2012, to the UDF government which warned of earlier attempts on the life of TP and the possibility of fresh attempts.

The friction between the RMP and the CPM in the region, the possibility of serial violence and the necessity of tightening security also figure in the reports.
