Hyderabad: A man died in a stampede at a function to release the audio of actor Jr NTR’s forthcoming film Baadshah, putting a thorough dampener on the function.
Raju from Warangal had come to witness the audio launch and have a look at his favourite actors. The venue was the Ramanaidu Studios in Nanakramguda.
People just poured into the venue in huge numbers, exceeding the estimate of the organisers, who, police say, were not equipped to handle the rush of fans and viewers. People pulled and pushed in the extremely long queue, and Raju apparently fell on the muddy ground. He couldn’t get up, and was crushed under the feet of the huge crowd. He was taken to hospital but died later.
Producer blames fans for stampede
Producer of the Jr NTR’s forthcoming film Baadshah, Ganesh, told that fans trying to gain entry to the audio launch venue caused the stampede killing one. More than 25,000 people turned up, although the seating capacity was for 12,000 to 15,000. He said still more were allowed in since they had come from far-flung places to have a glimpse of NTR.
Cyberabad police inspector A. Balakoti said that there was a stampede in the venue. “There was a lot of pushing and pulling in the queue.” A case under Section 3014A for negligence causing death has been booked against the organisers.
Meanwhile, Gen X star Jr NTR says he regrets the death of his fan Raju who died in the stampede that occurred at the audio function of his big ticket film Baadshah.
Jr NTR announced that he would stand by Raju’s family. “I am shattered I have lost a brother since fans and stars live in each other’s hearts. So I request other fans to return home safely,” said the mistyeyed star.
Ganesh announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the deceased. Junior NTR, lead actor of the film also promised to take care of the family of the deceased Raju. Mean-while a ban on the film in Telangana was called for as the deceased hailed from Warangal and no condolences were offered by anyone.
