The Blue Cross kick started the first aviary clinic in Chennai with the help of enthusiastic participation from youngsters group 'spaak'.

Chennai: Chennai gets first aviary clinic to treat birds. The Blue Cross of India along with a young band of enthusiastic volunteers who call themselves ‘spaak’ group kick started the clinic today. The clinic is all set to treat ailing birds.

The members of ‘spaak’ group collected over eight lakhs rupees in donation and helped blue cross in construction of the clinic. “We are very happy kick start first aviary clinic in Chennai, Moreover we are also great full to all our donators” said Pooja, fourth year student of National Institute of Fashion Technology.

Students say that every day at least 10 birds are admitted to the clinic. “There is a regular inflow of birds and we are treating them and once they are fully fit for flight they are let alone,” said Surya an engineering graduate.   

Students say their conceptualised the idea when they first entered the clinic. The clinic was inaugurated by the Animal husbandry secretary Gangan Singh bedi, “Among all the very big function I attend, I am very pleased to be among the youngsters. I hope they continue this noble service and my department is ready to help them in every way” he said.
