Bengaluru: The Forum Against Illegal Arrest of Journalists on Saturday embarked on a three-day fast against the illegal arrest of Mangalore TV reporter Mr Naveen Soorinje at Freedom Park in the city.

Senior journalists from various media houses, human rights activists, students and farmers participated on the first day. Mr Ravi Krishna Reddy of ‘Varthamana’ led the fast, which will continue till Monday evening.

Speaking on the occasion, journalists Mr Reddy, Mr H.R. Ranganath, Mr Ananth Chinivar, Mr Ranganath Bharadwaj and Mr Lakshman Hugar urged the State government to withdraw the false cases slapped against Mr Soorinje. They alleged that this is the conspiracy hatched against journalists reporting anti-establishment news.
