Beach festival to be held every year

Rajahmundry: Beach festival at Kakinada will be organised every year officially, said Kakinada rural MLA K. Kannababu.

Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, the legislator said that a special committee was formed to organise the festival on a regular basis with collector as its chairperson and himself as co-chairman.

He said that they were making arrangements to organise the three-day event beginning from January 11 to 13 representing the culture and customs of East Godavari and added that Union minister for human resource development and minister for tourism Vatti Vasantha Kumar made efforts for getting sanction of funds to conduct the event.

He said that Union minister for HRD M.M. Pallam Raju, Union minister of state for tourism K. Chiranjeevi will attend the festival along with home minister and district in-charge Sabita Indira Reddy and other ministers and public representatives. He said that an exhibition, a nursery mela, fireworks display, doll show, beach kabaddi, beach volleyball and events would be held.
