‘I am being choosy’

DC | Nidhi R. Daiya | 11th Dec 2012

She just signed on the dotted line. We are talking about actress Sneha who has just signed her first film after marriage to actor Prasanna. The beautiful actress has been roped in to be a part of Prakash Raj’s directorial venture—Un Samayal Arayil, the Tamil remake of Malayalam movie Salt N’ Pepper.

An ecstatic Sneha confirmed the news adding, “Yes I have been roped in for the film, but I cannot reveal much about my character.”

Quiz her about that and pat comes the answer, “This is the first film I have signed after my wedding—and I am glad I am taking up this project. The role is a very solid heroine centric one and I have been waiting for a good script to come my way. And what could be better than being part of such a notable actor’s directorial venture. Prakash Raj has always been known for doing quality work —and I am really excited to work with him,” she says with a smile.

While her counterparts who are married do not seem to be getting too many offers after their wedding, it does look like the tables have turned for Sneha. “You have a pre-conceived notion when it comes to a married woman—you think you would be offered the role of a sidekick or the heroine’s sister. I am glad people still believe in me and think I can perform.” Trying to be choosy about her films so she could spend sometime with husband, actor Prasanna, she says, “It is all about trying to strike a balance. I want to do quality work while spending time with family. I have started cooking and want to spend a lot of time with Prasanna.”

Looks like it’s the season for remakes in the film industry, and with a movie like Salt N’ Pepper that broke many barriers, does Sneha think it will give her career that lift she has always been waiting for?

“Being part of a film that has already raised the bar does give people the liberty to expect more. However, I am not going to act funny and say—‘yes this will be the film that will boost my career’. My earlier films might have not done greatly at the box office, but my performances were always applauded. What more can an actor ask for,” she concludes, modestly.
