Life is about indulgences

Fashion designer Amit G.T.

The fashion world is making way for designer Amit G.T.. There’s been no looking back for the designer since he first   launched himself on the global scene in Singapore in 2005. He’s dressed some of the biggest stars in Hollywood and Bollywood.

“Designing is in exercise in aesthetics. It’s about choosing the right elements in right proportions. I put a lot of thought into picking the fabric, colours, proportions, fit etc.” He has dressed the likes of Hollywood actors such as Eva Longoria, Whitney Cummings, Elizabeth Gillies, Marlene Favela, Brooke Burke, Katherine Lanasa, Holland Roden and Rosario Dawson,   apart from the royal families of Middle East and high-flying socialites.

When asked what inspires him to design, he replies, “Life inspires me the most. I love drawing inspiration from the aristocratic lifestyle of 19th century France and England in particular. The beautiful mansions on the French Riviera, villas of Italy, beach houses of Malibu and the lifestyles of those who live in these places inspire me. I pick a lot from my own travel experiences as well.”

Amit believes luxury is a way of life. “Luxury lifestyle is all about expressing one’s individuality with style and panache in everything that you own — the house you live in, the art on your wall, the car you drive and the clothes you wear,” says Amit. And travel forms a huge part of it too. “I like Santa Margherita and Capri in Italy. Driving through the wilderness of Tasmania and gazing at rock formations there is something I will cherish.”

Amit owns a flagship store in Gurgaon and believes it is a start to a chain of ventures. “It’s great to have a space of your own,” he signs off.
