It seems that Akshay Kumar was a bit miffed with the lack of crowds in Hyderabad when he recently visited the city for the promotions of his upcoming film 'Khiladi 786'. The actor, with leading lady Asin in tow, visited Hyderabad and Bengaluru in a single day and the turn-out in the latter city was huge. “Bengaluru welcomed the Khiladi 786 gang in true form!” posted Akshay on a social networking site along with a picture of him and Asin being garlanded amid the multitude.
He, however, made no mention of Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, in the city, only the media got to meet the stars. The organisers, Showmakers Media, had tried hard to get Akshay to land in a helicopter among the crowd but “cops didn’t want to take the risk”. Sam of Showmakers Media says, “We had planned it in a bigger way for Akshay and Asin. They were also supposed to visit the South India Shopping Mall and interact with fans, but cops played spoilsport.”
However, the mall’s marketing manager, Chandrasekhar, had a different story to share. “Film’s production house was charging Rs 10 lakh to bring Akshay and Asin to the mall. And we weren’t eager to shell out such a huge amount.”
